You’ve probably noticed that things have been quiet on the site over the past couple of months. The reason had been the a mixture of life changes and blogging mind-block; what has made this blog standout was the Looks Like Beirut Certificate.

Looks Like Beirut Certificate

Looks Like Beirut Certificate

In case you are unaware, I mail by post a printed certificate to people who compare negative situations or events to Beirut. An interesting activity to pursue but with a low response rate, I wasn’t sure if the certificate is making the impact that I would want it to. Did I find the right address for the right person? Did the certificate reach its destination? Was it immediately binned once opened? There were too many factors out of my control in sending this sarcastic, yet important message.

So What Happens Now?

It’s about time that I start moving forward with this blog. I’ve decided to stop sending out physical certificates but will continue to post them online. I will refocus my attention to tracking the phrase “looks like Beirut” through this blog and especially on Looks Like Beirut on Google Maps.

I will also continue to add non “looks like Beirut” news that generally slips underneath the radar. As for the certificate, I am waiting for some bolt of creativity to kick in that would allow me to create another product that would help get the “Beirut does not look like that” message across.

On a side note, I would like to thank everyone who has helped make this blog happen especially the readers who continue to visit the site. Thank you to you all.
